Version 1.0
Guilder
Guilder is a beautifully robust type family drawing inspiration from the master gilders—specifically sign painting gilding—of yore. Gilded letterforms can range from the simple to the ornate. We wanted a utilitarian typeface that presented opportunities for gilding while remaining clean, contemporary, and slim. The result is Guilder, a set of three layerable fonts Solid, Outline, and Inline that can exhibit up to five different gilded letter styles when used together. Guilder is an all caps font with small caps in the lowercase and a complete Basic Latin Unicode character set.
Now, you may have noticed a difference between the word ‘gilding’ and the name of this typeface ‘Guilder’. No, you’re not spotting a massive typo, this is intentional. To gild means to cover or embellish with a thin layer of gold or a similar material, while guild means a group of people with similar interests or goals. We loved the notion of a typeface that represented a community of craft in this golden-hued way that the ‘u’ was undeniable.

Guilder 2.0
Guilder 2.0 will see an expansion of the family from one solid style to 25: Five weights across Five Widths. This major expansion is in effort to capture a wide range of personalities present in this workhorse engineered style. And, yes, each font will come with inline and outline styles. Wish us luck!
