Badson Type Foundry is a boutique type design outfit based in Denver, Colorado, USA., founded by Kyle Read in 2014 as a companion practice to the art direction and branding work at Badson Studio. It’s this storied experience in both the branding and type design worlds that gives BTF sharp insight into how typography can serve as a catalyst for new and amazing work.

Badson Type Foundry’s retail catalog focuses on producing personality-driven typefaces that designers want to use and high-quality typographic tools built for communicating original brand voices. We believe that craft is paramount and that everyone can (and should!) benefit from good typography.

Licensing

We have a simplified licensing structure that ensures you get the rights fonts at the right price for your organization:

I — Individual
This license is built for the individual proprietors, freelancers, and solo designers out there buying fonts for themselves or their small business. This license is similar to a ‘single seat desktop license’. This license covers all applications from desktop to web to apps.

S — Studio
This license is for businesses of 3-10 people in size: small studios, marketing firms, or in-house design teams with multiple ‘desks’. This license covers all applications from desktop to web to apps.

C — Company
This license is for companies or design firms of 11–50 people. Once your company gets this large, its silly to count seats, so this license ensures easy shared use of the fonts amongst any employee or contracted member of the company. This license covers all applications from desktop to web to apps.

E — Enterprise
This license is for companies and organizations larger than 51 people. This license covers just Desktop use. Support for web and app licenses at this scale are coming soon. Enterprise needs are often different than normal licenses offer by default, so please contact us if you would like to discuss custom licenses or alteration licenses.

Do You have Trial fonts?

Not yet, but we will soon.

Do you have student discounts?

No, we don’t. Our pricing, especially at the Individual license level, is designed to be accessible by most and lies below competitive market pricing. If you’re an educator and are looking for bulk pricing deals for the classroom, please get in touch.

Which Languages do your fonts support?

All our Craft Series fonts are built to include as many of Underware Foundry’s “Latin Plus” glyphset as possible, which supports 218 languages. All Brand Palette Collection fonts have greatly reduced character sets, thus greatly reduced language support, but if you’d like too see more glyphs in the font that aren’t available in the default set we’re always available to talk about extending and altering the typefaces to fit your needs. Just drop us a line.

If you are in need of any special characters in one of our fonts in order to support a specific use, please reach out!

Can I alter the design of the fonts after I buy them?

We’d prefer you didn’t. :) We discourage this practice out of respect for the time and effort that went into designing these typefaces to a particular standard. If you’d like to talk about what an ‘Altering License’ looks like, shoot us an email! We’re happy to accommodate.
